Sacramento ‘Camp Resolution’ site for homeless community forced to shut down

(FOX40.COM) - - A designated homeless encampment run by an advocacy group in north Sacramento will be forced to close down soon.

The City of Sacramento and Safe Ground Sacramento, previously entered into a lease arrangement that enabled a location on Colfax Street and Arden Way to be used as an encampment, known as ‘‘ Camp Resolution'. The lease was up for renewal on June 1, nevertheless, the city put the operation on notification through a letter that specified the agreement would be ended and all occupants and residential or commercial property need to leave the encampment by May 16.

Camp Resolution was the very first of its kind – – unlike other city-sanctioned campsites, the community was self-governed by 54 citizens and offered a location for the homeless community to park their trailers. The city is reportedly in communication with Safe Ground Sacramento to go over the possibility of a new website.
