Severe storms possible today into tonight


9:30 PM Update: A twister watch has actually been broadened to include the whole viewing location till 1 AM CST. Keep in mind, a tornado watch means that conditions agree with for tornadic and/or severe storms within and near the watch area.



Summary:
Spread showers and storms are taking place out ahead of the front. Some storms will have the opportunity to turn strong to severe with all hazards at play.

Hazards:
Discrete storms, or storms existing by themselves, will be able to develop near a warm front across Central and Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Mississippi. These storms will present all threats with the primary dangers of a couple of twisters and big hail.

Harmful wind gusts will be possible also. Flooding rain will not be a concern, although rainstorms and lead to ponding on roadways.

Timing:
Scattered storms exist over Central Louisiana this afternoon and will move eastward throughout the day. Strong to severe storms will be possible over Southeast Louisiana throughout the late afternoon hours through the night.

As the cold front relocations through tonight, more storms and showers might reignite along the limit. Damaging winds and a quick twister might be possible again over night.

The cold front will start to clear through the morning, and any remaining rain needs to exit by at least midday Monday.
