Authorities in San Diego announced that five teenagers have been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing near a trolley station. The incident took place at 3200 Imperial Ave. in the neighborhood of Logan Heights.
The victim, described as Hispanic and in his late teens, had a verbal altercation with the five suspects at the 32nd and Commercial trolley platform. The confrontation escalated when the victim walked down the stairs to Imperial Ave., where he was followed, confronted, and stabbed by the group with an unknown weapon.
Law enforcement officers found the victim with at least one stab wound and rushed him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The suspects were apprehended within two hours of the stabbing at 4700 Spring St. in La Mesa. They have since been booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder. The ages of the suspects range from 15 to 17, and their identities have not been disclosed due to their status as minors.
At present, it remains unclear whether the weapon used in the attack has been recovered. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward by calling 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
