
SHOHEI OHTANI pitched six strong innings as the Angels defeated the Minnesota Twins 4-2 on Sunday (Angels photo).
Ohtani went 6 innings, yielding just two hits and one earned run. He struck out nine batters and walked 3 as the Halos took 2 of 3 from the visitors and improved their record to 25-23, still in 3rd place in the American League West.
Nine Angel players got one hit each; Mickey Moniak drove in 2 runs with a single. Matt Thaiss doubled in a run and scored once.
Chris Devenski (2-0) got the win regardless of dealing with just one batter, whom he struck out.
The Angels will start a series on Monday hosting the
Boston Red Sox with Jaime Barria (1-1) making the start for the Orange County team.
Dodgers lose to the Cards, 10-5


The
Los Angeles Dodgers fell back early and remained there Sunday in
St. Louis on Sunday, losing 10-5 to the Cardinals.
Starter Clayton Kershaw (6-4) had a rough outing for the Blue Crew, lasting 3.2 innings and yielding five hits and four earned runs. He set out 6 and walked three.
Miguel Rojas went 2-for-4 while Will Smith walked 3 times..
The loss put the Dodgers record at 29-19, still in first place in the National League West, 1.5 video games ahead of the 2nd place Arizona Diamondbacks. They will start a new series in Atlanta on Monday with Gavin Stone (0-0) getting the start.
