LAS VEGAS (BNN) – – Car thefts and vandalizations are a persistent issue across
Las Vegas and residents living near Sunrise Manor say they are on edge after several cases in current weeks.
In the freshly developed Edgewood North Community homeowners connected to 8 News Now for help after several automobiles were reported vandalized, taken, and then discovered on the side of the road days later on.
" I'm the third victim, two others before me, I didn't even know," Ivan Hernandez told 8 News Now.
He revealed 8 News Now video of what appeared to be burglars taking off with his truck just before midnight recently.
To his surprise, he said cops discovered the truck soon after but it was left in shambles.
" They stomped on the windscreen, the guiding ignition was all ruined, and they burned out the tires they vandalized it," Henandez included.
He stated numerous of his next-door neighbors were also victims of what they refer to as an automobile theft ring targeting their neighborhood.
" They are coming out here and taking a look at our automobiles and going around on their bikes and observe what cars they are going to take next," Evelyn Torres described to 8 News Now.
Citizens believe it is young kids taking their cars and trucks and taking them out for joyrides, vandalizing them in the process, and then abandoning them on the side of the road.
Citizens like David Gonzalez are looking at approximately $4,000 in repairs to his truck. He informed 8 News he wants much better help from the cops.
" Police and the city know that we want more patrols around the area and we want to feel safe," Gonzalez stated. "It might appear insignificant, but it does take your piece of mind whether you're going to have your car in the morning, even in a gated neighborhood this is going on."
