AMARILLO, Texas (BNN)-- In the wake of a shooting at a V.A. in Atlanta, Dr. Nguyen "Tom" Griggs joined us on Today in
Amarillo on Wednesday to discuss mental health and health care worker security.
Griggs said that many veterans face barriers to psychological health treatment, including shame, preconception, and a lack of understanding. They likewise deal with logistical barriers like long wait times, travel distance, and presumptions from providers based upon demographics.

Dr. Griggs stated that there are four types of stress and anxiety:
Generalized: Worrying about a series of areas in their life, consisting of work, schools, health, relationships, and family.
