FRESNO, Calif. — A quiet neighborhood in Northeast Fresno was rocked by gunfire late Tuesday evening, leaving one person hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. According to the Fresno Police Department, officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots near the intersection of Willow and Nees Avenues just after 9:30 PM.
Witnesses reported hearing an argument escalate into gunfire, followed by the sound of tires screeching as a vehicle fled the scene. Police have cordoned off several blocks as forensic teams collect evidence. "We're interviewing neighbors and reviewing security footage," said Fresno PD spokesperson Lt. Mark Johnson. "We urge anyone with information to come forward."
Longtime residents expressed shock at the violence in what they described as a typically peaceful area. "This doesn’t happen here," said neighbor Rebecca Torres. "We need more patrols before someone gets killed."
Authorities are analyzing ballistic evidence and tracing the suspect’s possible escape routes. No motive has been disclosed, but detectives are exploring whether the shooting was targeted.
