In a dramatic turn of events, two teenagers have been apprehended for their alleged involvement in a violent armed robbery that shook the community of Ramona just three weeks ago. This incident, which has raised eyebrows and sparked conversations around youth crime and safety, unfolded early Wednesday morning when authorities took action.
Deputies from the local sheriff's department arrested Jahziel Hayes, 18, and a 16-year-old boy at a residence on San Vicente Road around 5 a.m. This operation was carried out smoothly without any resistance, according to Sheriff’s Sergeant Sean Gallagher.
During the search of the home, investigators uncovered items linked to the robbery and seized two unserialized ghost guns. These weapons are often associated with unregulated firearm ownership, raising concerns about community safety.
The crime that led to their arrest occurred on August 10, around 3:30 a.m., when the suspects allegedly assaulted an employee at the Stars gas station located on Main Street. In addition to the assault, they stole various merchandise from the establishment.
Both suspects are facing serious charges including:
Jahziel Hayes has been booked into San Diego Central Jail, while the minor has been placed in juvenile hall.
The incident has left many residents in Ramona concerned about safety and the growing trend of youth involvement in crime. Community leaders are urging for discussions on preventive measures and support systems for at-risk youth.
As this story develops, many are left wondering about the underlying factors that contribute to such alarming behavior among teenagers. Your thoughts are welcome in the comments below!
