Texas Hill Country gets ready for thousands of visitors ahead of overall solar eclipse

DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) - - Hotel spaces are scheduling up or already offered out ahead of next April's overall solar eclipse, according to authorities with the City of Dripping Springs. The total solar eclipse, which will occur on April 8, 2024, is one of two that's course will move across Central Texas.

The second eclipse will happen on Oct. 14 of this year. That eclipse is an annular eclipse, which according to NASA, occurs when the moon passes in between the Earth and the sun throughout the furthest point of its orbit. It will not completely obscure the sun.

Austin will be on the edge of the eclipse, however not within the totality, where the eclipse is at its darkest. Fredericksburg will get the best views.

Millions gather to see a total solar eclipse

Baligad is planning to handle the included blockage the day by strategically putting first responders.

Despite all the preparation, Sullivan stated they're refraining from doing extra promo.

" Dripping Springs is currently a huge tourism destination because of the Hill Country. Therefore we're not really promoting it to individuals to come here, since I believe they're going to come anyway."
