The pandemic interrupted their freshman year. It might also have prepared the Class of 2023 for the job market.

Adonis Brooks will finish from Muhlenberg College, and he has a job lined up. A dual-major in psychology and business, the Brooklyn, New York, native will be going house to New york city City to work for a consulting company.

" I have a job, I've accepted the deal, which is terrific," said Brooks, who has actually secured a position with Huron Consulting Group's workplace in Manhattan. "But while I was searching for the job, I was simply super stressed out with interviews and stuff like that. Overall, I can't truly complain about the job hunt, it was just a lot of work."

For college seniors throughout the years, Brooks' story is a familiar one. However for the Class of 2023 the road to graduation day and the beginning of a profession was one that consisted of some unusual challenges.

Midway through the first year, in the spring of 2020, the COVID pandemic hit, forcing a mass exodus away from schools to virtual classes back home, then back to school once again with nearly a whole year of the college experience wiped away.

There's the task market that's in flux, with companies looking to fill positions open as an outcome of retiring baby boomers and others who took part in the so-called terrific resignation, where employees left positions for much better chances in the wake of the pandemic.

It appears to be a hot market for future graduates.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers prepare to work with 14.7% more brand-new college graduates from the Class of 2023 than they did from the Class of 2022, according to its Job Outlook 2023 report.

Gabrielle Demchak, a mathematics major at Moravian University, has been worked with as an underwriter for Guardian Insurance and stated companies have been on the hunt.

" It went effectively for me," stated Demchak, who is from Bath. "I have a job I start in June. And while doing so I felt like everybody was really eager to a minimum of interview people and speak to people about their interest in jobs. I don't think I struggled to find opportunities."

Brooks stated finding his very first task needed some imagination.

" I'm typically the one who takes effort first," he said. "I began my task search method before many of my peers and I was truthfully trying to figure out what I wanted to do in my career.

One student who changed majors, but isn't going straight into the labor force, is Moravian's Mikela Ortwein. I definitely see trainees taking note of that and if an employer does use any kind of hybrid scheduling, or types of advantages like that, there are some things that I think will help our students as they're looking for their next action.
