Thunderstorm chances climb this weekend and some could turn serious

HOUSTON, Texas (BNN)-- Storm opportunities are on the increase this weekend, and the rainy weather pattern will stick around for numerous days next week.
That said, there is now a 30% opportunity of late afternoon and early evening thunderstorms. Due to the fact that of how hot the air will get ahead of the storms, they will have plenty of fuel to trigger gusty downburst winds that might surpass 60 miles per hour.
Keep close tabs on the weather with us in case you need to run for cover if you have outside strategies late Saturday.
Another Ozone Pollution Watch is in result for Saturday afternoon.
What can we expect Sunday?
Sunday the weather condition pattern turns even stormier. An upper-level low will start a business over central Texas, spinning thunderstorms our way during the afternoon and evening. One or two of those storms might even turn severe with gusty downburst winds over 60 mph, quarter-size hail, frequent lightning, and a fast inch or 2 of rain that could flood some streets.
The length of time will this rainy weather pattern remain?
We are keeping rain possibilities at 60-70% Sunday through Tuesday as the low stays parked to our west. By Wednesday it begins to press eastward, so rain chances should move down to 20% by Friday.
Now that it'& #x 27; s hurricane season, is anything taking place in the tropics?
Yes! Hurricane Arelene is spinning over the eastern Gulf. You can get more info about Arlene and what else is taking place in the tropics by visiting our daily Tropical Update page.
