A 27-year-old woman from San Diego lost her life in a devastating solo vehicle accident on Wednesday. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the woman was ejected from her overturned vehicle on state Route 905.
CHP San Diego units responded to the crash at approximately 6:35 a.m. on Wednesday after receiving reports of a vehicle accident on SR-905 westbound transition to I-5 northbound, revealed CHP Officer Salvador Castro.
The woman, who was driving a Toyota Corolla, inexplicably veered off the roadway, up a dirt embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn, Officer Castro explained. Tragically, she was ejected from the car onto the roadway, sustaining fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
As a result of the crash, lanes on SR-905 westbound to I-5 northbound were temporarily closed for investigation.
Officer Castro mentioned that a toxicology report was pending to ascertain whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the tragic accident. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
