Two people were hospitalized following a dramatic crash in East Ridge, Tennessee, where a speeding truck plowed into a U-Haul facility, striking a large propane tank. Witnesses described a scene of panic as emergency crews rushed to secure the area, fearing a potential explosion.
The incident occurred just after noon near the 5700 block of Ringgold Road. According to police reports, the driver of the pickup truck lost control while attempting to navigate a sharp curve, sending the vehicle careening through a chain-link fence before smashing into the propane storage area.
Despite the terrifying impact, first responders confirmed the propane tank remained intact. Fire Chief Mark Wallace credited quick-thinking U-Haul employees with preventing catastrophe: "Had that tank ruptured, we'd be looking at a quarter-mile blast radius. These workers followed emergency protocols perfectly."

Preliminary investigations suggest the truck may have been traveling nearly 20 mph over the posted speed limit. Authorities are awaiting toxicology reports but confirmed the driver showed no immediate signs of impairment.
East Ridge Police Department spokesperson noted: "This stretch of road has seen seven major accidents this year alone. We'll be petitioning the city for additional safety measures."
