Tuesday is Election Day: Important things for Houston-area citizens to bear in mind

HOUSTON (BNN)-- Tuesday is Election Day for the Texas primary with big races locally and nationally.

Election Day voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all ballot puts statewide. Texans can find their polling location by using the My Voter Portal. If a county participates in the Countywide Polling Place Program, voters might cast a ballot at any place in their county on Election Day.

Voters should cast their ballot at an area specific to their registration precinct if a county does not offer countywide ballot.

That suggests citizens in Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria and Galveston counties can vote at any area in the county, similar to during early voting. However Montgomery County requires citizens to cast tallies at their appointed precincts.

You can find your ballot place at VoteTexas.gov.

At the surveys, voters ought to come ready to present among the seven appropriate forms of image ID:

  • Texas Driver License,

  • Texas Personal Identification Card,

  • Passport,

  • Texas Handgun License,

  • Military Identification Card,

  • Citizenship Certificate,

  • Texas Election Identification Certificate.

It is important to note a student ID is not one of the accepted forms of photo ID.

Early voting returns in Harris County

Early voting ended on Friday and the Harris County Elections Department is reporting more than 102,000 individuals voted in-person in the Democratic primary, with more than 25,000 ballots mailed in.

In the Republican primary, more than 108,000 individuals vote last week and more than 8,000 were mailed in.

The totals are informal and will not be official up until the election is canvassed.
