(FOX40.COM) - - It's been nearly a year since Elk Grove denied approval of a low-income real estate plan called the Oak Rose Task, however after two separate lawsuits arose from Guv Gavin Newsom's Administrative Office and the designers involved- the city is reassessing.
The project was rejected in the summertime of 2022 because the city of Elk Grove declared that it did not fulfill zoning standards. Consequently the city was sued by the developers and state authorities who pointed out that the rejection went against California laws that promote more affordable housing.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta stated in statement on May 1, 2023 that the proposed project would have consisted of 66 systems of "supportive housing for lower-income households at risk of homelessness" or that had actually previously experienced homelessness.
" With efforts by the City to check out choices for an alternative site with the candidate showing unsuccessful, and litigation due dates, dates and expenses on the horizon, Elk Grove officials revealed today that they will ask the Elk Grove City Council to reassess," the city of Elk Grove said in a statement on their site.
