Exciting news for artists and cultural enthusiasts in Worcester! The Worcester Arts Council (WAC) is thrilled to announce that grant applications for fiscal year 2025 are officially open until October 16, 2024. This is a golden opportunity for individuals, organizations, and public agencies to secure funding for innovative projects that enrich our city's vibrant arts scene.

Why Apply for a WAC Grant?

These grants are designed to support a wide range of local arts and cultural programs, providing vital resources to those looking to make a positive impact in our community. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Funding Sources: WAC has received generous funding totaling $236,500 from the Mass Cultural Coalition and an additional $10,000 from the Worcester Community Foundation.
  • Types of Grants: There are two main categories available:
    1. Project Grants: Tailored for individuals and organizations in Worcester County, these grants support the development of innovative and collaborative projects that aim to benefit the public and reach underserved populations.
    2. Fellowship Grants: Perfect for artists across all disciplines, these grants allow creators to explore and develop their work outside the confines of specific projects.

What Projects Are Eligible?

WAC is committed to fostering creativity in various fields, and all projects related to the arts, sciences, and humanities will be considered. However, priority will be given to projects that align with community feedback gathered through the annual Funding Priorities Survey. Here are some key focus areas:

  • Public Art: Initiatives that enhance public spaces and engage the community.
  • Musical Performances: Events that showcase local talent and foster community connections.
  • Arts Education & Instruction: Programs aimed at teaching and inspiring future generations.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Access (DEIA): Projects that amplify the voices and experiences of historically marginalized groups.
  • Community Engagement: Initiatives that specifically benefit historically underserved areas of Worcester.

Application Details

All applications must be submitted online by the deadline of October 16, 2024, at 11:59 PM. Late submissions will not be accepted. The WAC will review applications from November through December 2024, with funding decisions communicated by late January 2025.
