In a world driven by technology and innovation, the role of educators in preparing students for real-world challenges is more crucial than ever. At La Feria Early College High School, one teacher is making a significant impact in the field of digital media design: Megan Trevino-Torres. With a solid educational background and a wealth of professional experience, she is not just teaching; she is inspiring the next generation of creative minds.
Megan Trevino-Torres is a proud alumna of Texas State Technical College (TSTC), where she earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Digital Media Design in 2019. Before that, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Sul Ross State University and a master’s degree in the same field from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. This diverse educational journey equipped her with both creative and business acumen, essential for navigating the digital marketing landscape.
Now in her third year of teaching graphic design, film, news, and merchandise production, Trevino-Torres emphasizes the importance of creativity and collaboration. She explains, “My students and I enjoy the creative process when we get to work with our other CTE (Career and Technical Education) teachers on certain projects.” This collaborative approach not only enhances learning but also simulates real-world experiences where teamwork and creativity are paramount.
TSTC’s Digital Media Design program prepared Trevino-Torres well for her career. She notes, “The program taught me about many areas of marketing. I was also a work-study in the print shop and learned a lot about the print production process.” This foundational knowledge allows her to impart practical skills to her students, ensuring they are well-equipped for future careers in digital media.
As the spring semester approaches, TSTC is accepting applications for its Digital Media Design program. With classes fully online, aspiring designers can pursue their education in a flexible manner. Registration begins on October 28, providing a perfect opportunity for those looking to start or enhance their careers in this dynamic field.
Megan Trevino-Torres is not just teaching students; she is igniting their passion for creativity and innovation. By blending education with real-world experiences, she is shaping the future of digital media design and preparing her students to excel in an ever-evolving industry.
