In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the Santa Ana community, a 31-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) is actively investigating this tragic hit-and-run, urging anyone with information to come forward.
On the early morning of October 20, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the SAPD received an urgent call regarding a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at the intersection of Bristol Street and Park Lane. Emergency responders, including the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), rushed to the scene to find a man lying in the roadway, suffering from severe injuries.
Despite the immediate efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by OCFA personnel. This tragic event has left friends and family mourning the loss of Ralph Marin, a 31-year-old resident of Santa Ana.
Initial investigations suggest that Ralph Marin was attempting to cross Bristol Street when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver of this vehicle did not stop and fled the scene immediately after the collision. Disturbingly, another vehicle passed over the pedestrian after the initial impact, though that driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
The loss of Ralph Marin has sparked an outpouring of grief within the community. The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) is diligently working to piece together the events of that night.
