Excitement is in the air as UTEP women's basketball gears up for the 2024-25 season with an impressive influx of talent! Head Coach Keitha Adams has confirmed the addition of six dynamic players to the roster, each bringing unique skills and experiences to the court. Let’s dive into the profiles of these newcomers and what they mean for the future of the program.
Portia returns to the court after a year off, previously showcasing her skills at Lamar. In her sophomore year, she averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, with a stellar performance of 32 points against Houston Christian.
“Portia brings a lot of college experience as a transfer student. She can really shoot the ball and has a high basketball IQ. We are looking for great leadership from her,” Coach Adams noted.
Heaven impressed at Salt Lake Community College, averaging 12.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. She received Second Team All-Conference honors and is expected to bring her shooting and decision-making skills to UTEP.
“Heaven is coming from a solid junior college program, and we are counting on her experience at the college level,” added Adams.
A dynamic forward from Italy, Ndack averaged 12.5 points and 10.4 rebounds at Cowley College, earning her KJCCC Second Team All-Conference status. She is known for her rebounding skills and positive energy.
“We are excited about her rebounding skills and her play around the basket,” said Coach Adams.
Osade has represented Spain at youth levels and demonstrated her capabilities with Real Canoe, averaging 10 rebounds per game. She possesses great potential as a young, athletic post player.
“She is a lengthy and athletic player who can run the floor well,” said Adams.
Yagmur joins the squad from Fenerbahce, where she averaged 11.2 points and shot an impressive 55.2% from the field. She has also represented Turkey at youth national levels.
“Yagmur brings good basketball IQ and work ethic. We are looking forward to her contributions,” remarked Adams.
Mary showcased her talent in Uganda's East African basketball league, averaging 14.4 points and 11.6 rebounds. Her accolades include a Player of the Month honor, showcasing her impact on the court.
“Mary is one of the most talented young players from Uganda, and we are excited to work with her,” concluded Adams.
This year’s roster is shaping up to be a powerhouse. With a blend of talent and experience, the UTEP women’s basketball team looks poised to make a significant impact.
