WICHITA, KS – Commuters in Wichita are in for a significant disruption as the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced a months-long closure of the K-96 westbound ramp to Hydraulic. The shutdown, set to begin soon, is part of a critical infrastructure improvement project aimed at enhancing road safety and reducing long-term congestion.
With this closure, westbound K-96 traffic heading toward Hydraulic will need to reroute, likely causing delays during peak hours. Local businesses near the ramp may also experience temporary changes in customer flow. KDOT urges drivers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs.
KDOT has assured the public that the project will improve long-term traffic efficiency and safety. While the closure is inconvenient, the upgrades are expected to reduce future bottlenecks and maintenance needs. Stay tuned to BNN for the latest updates.
