Woman loses hand at Decatur aluminum plant


DECATUR, Ala. (BNN)-- A female had her hand cut off Friday at a Decatur aluminum extrusion plant, according to Decatur Fire & & Rescue (DFR).

According to a DFR spokesperson, they were dispatched to Wolverine Industries in Decatur for a possible hand injury at around 2:32 p.m. Friday.

When the crew got here, the representative said they discovered an approximately 38-year-old female with a hand amputation.

Authorities stated the woman was treated and after that flown by Air Evac to UAB.

Wolverine Industries is "a full-service Aluminum extrusion plant providing 6,000 series extrusions along with customized fabrication and friction stir welding services."

The DFR spokesperson stated no additional details are available at this time.
