Yolo County to be sprayed for mosquitoes as activity increases

(FOX40.COM) - - The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District stated it will perform ground spraying in multiple locations in Yolo County on Wednesday night in response to elevated mosquito activity.

From 8 p.m. to midnight, the firm stated it will spray an insecticide called DeltAGard in agricultural locations north and east of Davis, in El Macero, in the north area of Winters, and in west Yolo County.

The series of ground spraying treatments is the very first that the Vector Control District will have completed in Yolo County this year.

" The District makes every effort to keep the general public upgraded and informed on all mosquito control treatments to secure public health and well-being from illness such as West Nile virus among others," the company said on its website.

It continued, "Residents are motivated to register to get e-mail notices for metropolitan, farming, or ground treatments taking place in their zip code."

The zip codes of the areas included in the upcoming ground spraying treatment are 95616, 95618, 95685, and 95776.

The spraying in Yolo County comes a little over a week after a crow found in Sacramento County tested favorable for West Nile Virus.

The Vector Control District included that it just recently conducted a ground spray treatment at William Land Regional Park and will hold another one on Wednesday on the Del Rio trail.
