Amarillo Authorities investigating Friday shooting in central Amarillo, 2 injured


AMARILLO, Texas (BNN)-- The Amarillo Police Department reports that it is examining a shooting in main Amarillo that left two individuals injured Friday early morning.

According to APD, at around 12 a.m., officers were contacted us to the 1600 block of South Georgia St on a shooting. Police stated someone at the scene informed officers that they were driving west on I-40 when a lorry pulled up next to them and began beeping prior to pointing a weapon out of the lorry at them.

Police said the victim told them they attempted to decrease in an effort to get away. The suspect lorry continued to point a weapon at the victim. The victim stated they pulled their own weapon and fired at the suspect automobile striking the front passenger and the motorist.

The suspect lorry then drove to the health center.

The motorist of the suspect automobile, recognized by authorities as a 20-year-old, and the front guest, recognized as a 17-year-old, were admitted with non-life-threatening injuries. Cops stated a third passenger, identified as Marco Drube, 24, was seen on security video footage presumably disposing of the weapon from the lorry into a trashcan.

The Amarillo Police Department said Drube was arrested for "tampering with proof," and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. Charges are pending for the other 2 suspects when they are released from the medical facility.

The victim in the event was not hurt. Authorities said officers are investigating the occurrence.
