Breaking Now News – Austin's own Olympic diving sensation Alison Gibson is trading her swimsuit for evening wear as she prepares to host an exclusive fundraising gala with a mission that reaches far beyond the pool. The champion athlete is channeling her competitive spirit into a new challenge: raising $2 million to construct a desperately needed medical center in rural Kenya.
Gibson, who represented Team USA in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, first visited Kenya in 2022 as part of an athlete outreach program. What she witnessed changed her trajectory:
"I thought I knew what hardship looked like after years of training," Gibson told BNN. "Then I met mothers who'd lost children because they couldn't reach a doctor. That became my new mission."
