Setting the Stage: UTEP's Dynamic Duo Dominates Volleyball Honors!

DALLAS, Texas – In a remarkable display of talent and teamwork, Mattie Gantt and Kalia Kohler have been recognized as the Conference USA Volleyball Co-Setters of the Week for the second consecutive week. This achievement marks a historic moment for UTEP, as it is the first time in the program's history that they have secured consecutive Setter or Co-Setter of the Week honors.

Unpacking Their Stellar Performance

Both Gantt and Kohler played pivotal roles in leading the Miners to success at the recent South Dakota Classic, showcasing their skills and dedication on the court. Here’s a closer look at their outstanding contributions:

• Mattie Gantt – Co-Setter of the Week
  • Recorded a total of 62 assists (averaging 5.64 per set).
  • Accumulated 23 digs (2.09 per set), displaying her defensive prowess.
  • Contributed two aces and one kill.
  • Played a crucial role in UTEP's impressive 2-1 record, highlighted by a sweeping victory over Iowa State.
  • Helped the team achieve a hitting percentage of .262 throughout the tournament.
• Kalia Kohler – Co-Setter of the Week
  • Achieved 64 assists (5.82 per set) over the weekend.
  • Registered 27 digs (2.45 per set) to support the team defensively.
  • Scored four kills, showcasing her all-around skills.
  • Teamed up with Gantt to deliver a total of 126 assists (11.45 per set) during the tournament.
