The Olympics are a beloved global tradition that brings together athletes from around the world to compete at the highest level. With the 2024 Paris Olympics underway, many fans are already looking ahead to future games. Let's take a closer look at where the upcoming Olympics will be held.
Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics, marking the third time the city has been chosen to host the games, following previous events in 1932 and 1984. The events will take place within the city limits and surrounding areas, with official venues announced in Carson and Long Beach. The games are scheduled to take place from July 14 to July 30, 2028. Additionally, Brisbane, Australia, will host the 2032 Summer Olympics.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be hosted in Europe, with Italy taking the lead to organize the Milano-Cortina Games. France is conditionally approved to host the 2030 Winter Olympics, focusing on ski resorts in the French Alps and the coastal city of Nice. While full approval was not immediately granted due to recent parliamentary elections, Salt Lake City was confirmed as the preferred and only city to host the 2034 Winter Olympics, bringing the games back to Utah 32 years after hosting them in 2002.
From 1924 to 1992, the Summer and Winter Olympics were held in the same year, every four years. In 1994, the games were split, and the Olympics began being held every two years, starting with the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, followed by the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
