Murrieta Police Captain Matt Henry, with nearly twenty-five years of law enforcement experience, has been selected as the city's new police chief. He will assume the position when the current chief, Anthony Conrad, retires at the end of the year.
Mayor Summers praised Capt. Henry's extensive law enforcement background within the department and his ability to manage effectively and build relationships, expressing confidence in his leadership as the new police chief. Conrad, the outgoing chief, also endorsed the selection, highlighting Henry's commitment to building trust and professionalism within the department.
Henry, a father of four, joined the Murrieta Police Department in 2005 after serving with the San Diego Police Department. He has worked in various roles within the Murrieta PD, including patrol assignments, SWAT, internal affairs, and administration.
According to a city statement, Henry has spent the last four years managing both the operations and support sides of the department. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from San Diego State University and a master's degree in management from the University of Redlands.
