Grand Island housefire triggers estimated $275,000 in damages

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - - Grand Island firemens reacted to multiple calls of a structure fire on Thursday around 2 a.m., with the Erie County Constable's workplace reporting that the fire was "completely included."

According to Grand Island Fire Company, systems reacted within minutes and aside from two canines, the homeowners of the house were all represented at the time of the crews' arrival. The dogs were later located safe.

GI Fire said upon arrival, there was heavy fire at the back of your house, with an electrical line down in the yard. Fire Chief Mark Sadkowski developed command, and utilities were called for assistance regarding the downed electrical line.

Teams apparently run on opposite sides of the fire in an effort to include the blaze to the rear of your house. According to GI Fire, high winds escalated the spread of the fire, which was under control at 2:47 a.m.

Damages were approximated at $200,000 to the structure and $75,000 to the contents. The cause stays under investigation at this time.
