ANTELOPE VALLEY, CA – A brazen horse theft in the Antelope Valley took a dramatic turn this week when California Highway Patrol officers engaged in a high-speed pursuit to recover two stolen horses. The unusual case has left locals stunned and authorities scrambling to piece together the bizarre crime.
According to CHP reports, the incident began when witnesses spotted a suspicious trailer being hauled at high speed near Avenue D and 110th Street East. The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Victorville resident John Doe (name changed pending confirmation), allegedly stole two valuable quarter horses from a local ranch.
CHP officers initiated pursuit when the suspect refused to pull over, reaching speeds exceeding 85 mph with the precious cargo in tow. "We've seen car chases, but a horse trailer pursuit adds whole new dangers," said CHP spokesperson Maria Gonzalez. "Our primary concern was the animals' safety."
Both horses, identified as Midnight and Bella, were examined by veterinarians and found to be unharmed. The ranch owner, who asked to remain anonymous, tearfully told BNN, "These aren't just livestock - they're family."
Authorities are investigating possible connections to recent equine thefts across Southern California. The suspect faces multiple felony charges including grand theft and animal endangerment.
