The Little Rock Zoo has captured hearts nationwide with a major announcement about their newest addition—a baby gorilla whose gender was revealed in an exclusive segment on the Today Show.
The adorable baby western lowland gorilla, born earlier this year, has been the center of attention for zookeepers and visitors alike. After months of anticipation, the zoo chose a nationally televised platform to share the exciting news.
Western lowland gorillas are classified as critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching. Each birth in captivity is a win for conservation efforts.
Zoo officials confirm the baby gorilla is thriving under his mother's care. The public will get naming rights later this year through a community contest.
"We're overjoyed at the positive response," said Zoo Director Susan Altrui. "This little one is already inspiring conversations about wildlife conservation."
