McDonald's tests cold brew and goes huge with Big Mac sauce

McDonald's has started checking cold brew coffees in 600 dining establishments throughout Southern California, according to a press release.

The chain is offering two drinks: cold brew served black over ice, and cold brew with a creamy syrup.

They will be readily available while materials last at company-owned and franchise dining establishments in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties, the new release stated.

In a different announcement on Monday, the fast food giant said it has made some tweaks to its burger dishes, consisting of adding more sauce to its Big Macs, barbecuing onions on hamburger patties, changing grill tempatures to better scorch the meat and using "softer, pillowy" buns.

The modifications are being presented on the West Coast and will be nationwide by 2024, the press release said.

McDonald's is currently serving a new Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry, made with shortbread cookie pieces.
