HOUSTON (BNN)-- Sean Teare easily beat his former manager, Kim Ogg in the Democratic primary for Harris County District Attorney.
He led her in the early vote total by more than 50 points, with Teare gathering 77.6% of the vote for a total of 84,630 votes in the county's unofficial overalls. Ogg received 22.4%, or 24,400 votes.
Teare will now face Dan Simons in the November election. Simons ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
On X, previously called Twitter, Teare thanked his advocates and stated he will plan to "rebuild the Harris County DA's office and produce a working criminal justice system for everybody."
Teare said Ogg "weaponized" the DA's workplace throughout her 2 terms.
For her part, Ogg said she was disappointed in the outcomes and stated she will invest the next 9 months completing the task she began.
Ogg also had a concern with attempting to cast her vote on Tuesday, stating someone had currently casted her vote. Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth said in a declaration that last Friday, Ogg's partner, who is signed up to vote at the same address, voted under Ogg's name.
Ogg was later permitted to vote after the error was remedied.
