SHAWNEE, Kan. - - A Johnson County 3-year-old left in a car in a Walmart parking area for almost an hour, all alone. That toddler is OK.
Cops were told by the individual who called, the 3 year old appeared sluggish.
At the time Shawnee cops responded, the seems like temperature outside was almost 120 degrees.
" Check for a kid locked inside of a running car, it's been there for about an hour, kid looks to be 2 to 3 years of ages," a police officer can be heard stating on Broadcastify audio. "The kid seems breathing however is extremely lethargic and the vehicle is going to be a grey Nissan Altima.
" That's terrifying. You know children heat is just one of the many risks they face when they are alone in an automobile," Amber Rollins, director of Kids and Car Safety stated.
BNN can report that the child is OK. The 32-year-old Merriam local accountable for this was mentioned a ticket by police for threatening a child.

Kids and Car Safety states every year nearly 40 kids pass away after being left in cars and trucks, while almost 300 automobiles last year were stolen with kids inside of them alone.
"People actually misjudge the risks of children being alone in vehicles and they do not comprehend just how many things can fail," Rollins stated.
If you see a child alone, kids and Car Safety tells BNN in both Kansas and Missouri it is legal to break a window to get in a car.
