A quiet night in Aurora turned tragic when gunfire erupted on Exposition Avenue, leaving one dead and a community searching for answers. Breaking Now News has gathered the latest details on this unfolding investigation.
At approximately 11:30 PM on Tuesday, Aurora Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots near the 1600 block of Exposition Avenue. When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office will release the victim's identity following family notification. Preliminary reports suggest the victim was in his late 20s. Investigators are working to determine whether this was a targeted attack or a random act of violence.
Neighbors reported hearing a heated argument before the gunshots, followed by the sound of a vehicle speeding away. The shooting has rattled residents of this typically quiet neighborhood.
"We never have this kind of violence here," said longtime resident Maria Gonzales. "Now I'm afraid to let my kids play outside after dark."
The Aurora Police Department has increased patrols in the area while detectives follow up on leads.
