WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP)-- A Winston-Salem man remains in custody after being implicated in the stabbing death of his spouse and a standoff including SWAT, according to the Winston-Salem Authorities Department.
At around 8:08 p.m. on Saturday, officers were contacted us to the 2300 block of Kaywood Lane to assist EMS with a death examination involving a possible fall.
EMS workers had arrived at the scene earlier and found Amanda Jane English, 56, of Winston-Salem, dead from obvious stab injuries.

Authorities state that EMS workers were faced inside the home by Joel Milton English, 62, of Winston-Salem, who was equipped with a knife. EMS then left the home to security till officers arrived at the scene.
Joel English refused to surrender to the responding officers, according to private investigators. The WSPD's SWAT group was then contacted us to the scene and he would eventually be collared at 11:52 p.m. by SWAT personnel.
The WSPD's Criminal Investigations Division likewise reacted to the scene and is leading the investigation into the homicide.
Investigators state that the victim and Joel English were married and cohabiting.
Joel English is being charged with first-degree murder and is being kept in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $1 million bond. He will make a very first appearance in court on Monday.
The examination is ongoing and active. There is no further details readily available at this time.
This is the 11th murder of the year in Winston-Salem.
