Frisco

Frisco, Texas

The American state of Texas contains the city of Frisco in the Collin and Denton counties. Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport are both around 25 miles (40 km) apart from this area of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. According to the 2020 U.S. census, it has 200,509 residents.

From 2000 to 2009, as well as in 2017, Frisco was the American city with the fastest growth. The northern DFW suburban development tide reached Plano's northern border in the late 1990s and overflowed into Frisco, igniting a period of explosive growth in the early 2000s. Like many other northern exurbs of Dallas, Frisco is a bedroom community for professionals who work in the DFW area. The National Arbor Day Foundation has designated Frisco as Tree City USA since 2003.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the major cities are McKinney and Frisco, and the urban area includes northern Dallas-area suburbs that are independent from the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan region: According to the 2020 census, the McKinney-Frisco, Texas urban area had 504,803 residents, placing it 83rd in the nation.

Geography

North Texas's Frisco is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and is located in the counties of Denton and Collin. The city has a total area of 62.4 sq mi (161.6 km2), of which 160.1 sq mi (61.8 sq km) is land and 0.58 sq mi (1.5 km2), or 0.92%, is water. The low in January is 33 °F (1 °C), while the high in July is 96 °F (36 °C). A higher score indicates a more comfortable environment. Economy

Stonebriar Centre, a 165-store regional mall, IKEA, a furniture retailer with a 28,800 m2 (310,000 sq ft) space, and The Star, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, are just a few of the numerous retail establishments in Frisco. One of the city's main north-south thoroughfares, Preston Road, is lined with shops and restaurants.

In contrast to many of its neighboring communities, Frisco chose to finance the Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) with a small portion of its local sales tax rather than the regional transportation agency Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). The efficiency of the FEDC, whose main goal is to redistribute such tax funds to commercial endeavors, is up for debate in the public.

Together with the municipal hall, Frisco Square, a mixed-use complex, was transformed into the new downtown. Over 250 rental homes, seven restaurants, 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) of commercial office space, and a few personal service locations may be found at Frisco Square. The project's new city hall, primary library, and public commons are its key developments. In 2010, a Cinemark cinema first opened. North of the theater, Medical City Plano-Frisco, a hospital, was constructed in 2012.

The Comerica Center is the home of the Dallas Stars National Hockey League team, which has its headquarters in Frisco. Since the fall of 2003, the North American Hockey League's Texas Tornado has called Frisco home, and shortly after that, the league relocated its main offices there. The Texas Tornado moved to North Richland Hills, Texas, during the 2013 off-season. In 2018, the league moved its offices.

In August 2005, the Major League Soccer team FC Dallas (formerly the Dallas Burn) relocated to Pizza Hut Park (now Toyota Stadium), which is located close to the intersection of Main Street and the Dallas North Tollway.
